Buckbooks promotions
Yesterday, I did a Buckbooks promotion on one of my books and I wanted to share with you how it went. The book I chose was not a bestseller. It is called, Mommy Camp (for Dads too!): Plan the Best Summer Ever for Your Kids Without Breaking the Bank! I wrote it last spring because it is what I do every year for my own kids so that they can look forward to summer vacation. This is the perfect time of year to promote this book. Well, a few weeks earlier would have been better, but yesterday was the earliest I could get into Buckbooks.
The regular price of the book is $2.99 but I reduced it to $0.99 two days before the Buckbooks promotion, just to be sure it was reduced in time.
Before the promotion, it was ranked a dismal #374,000-ish (forgot to take a screen shot). When I checked it at 4pm EST, it was still #374,000-ish. I panicked a little, but I have been noticing that it has been taking until about 4pm EST for rankings to reduce appropriately during free promos, so I just figured this was more of the same delay.
By 5pm EST, it had dropped significantly to #16,378 – yahoo!
I checked it again at 8pm EST:
Finally, the next morning, I checked it again:
I’m VERY happy with the Buckbooks promotion. This book sold a total of 39 copies yesterday, which I felt was excellent seeing at it is not a “hot topic” type of book, but a book I wrote because I was passionate about the subject. One of those books that I HAD to write, if you know what I mean. I’m so happy to see it as #1 in Family Activities and I hope that kids and families enjoy planning their “Mommy Camp” just like I do. I raised the price back to $2.99 this morning, but I’ll keep my fingers crossed that it holds its ranking for a bit longer.
Next time, I’ll consider combining my Buckbooks promo with some more promotions to see if I can hold the rankings and get even lower.
