Is Your Glass Feeling Half Empty More than Not? 5 Ways to Reframe Your Thinking for Ultimate Success
Negative thinking and self-talk can greatly inhibit your success in your personal and your professional life. If you’re consistently seeing the world from a negative and disgruntled point of view, perhaps it’s time to shift your focus and reframe your thinking so you can achieve the success you’re destined to receive. Here are five ways you can do just that.
1. Shift Your Self Talk Conversations to Something More Positive
Sometimes, the hardest person in the world to learn to be kind to is yourself. We are at times our harshest critics. While it is good to occasionally shine a light of critical objectivity in our direction, for the most part, what we need is to give ourselves a good series of positive pep talks instead.
It doesn’t have to be all sunshine and roses. But, it’s important to look for more positive ways to frame your self-talk conversations than negative. Along the way you might learn that your glass isn’t nearly as empty as you thought.
2. Remind Yourself to Dream
More importantly, dream out loud and in living color. Create bright vibrant vision boards of what success looks like for you. Spend time, every day, envisioning you: On that board; living that life; achieving that success. Dreaming is the first step you must take to achieve that success. You’ll never get there if you have no idea what it looks like. Embrace your dreams. Then, set out to accomplish them.
3. Eliminate Limiting Beliefs
Nix the words “I can’t” from your vocabulary altogether. There may be things along the way you don’t want to do or aren’t interested in doing, but there are very few things in life you actually can’t do if you set your mind to it. That doesn’t mean you’ll be wildly successful at everything you attempt to do. But limiting yourself to anything less than the success you dream about robs you of the real joy and freedom that comes from accomplishing your dream.
4. View Problems and Hiccups as Challenges to Overcome
Viewing problems as too-big-to-tackle will ultimately lead to failure whereas viewing them as temporary challenges forces you to rise to the occasion and accomplish more than you previously thought possible. If you need inspiration, look up your favorite celebrity, author, or business leader and read about their upbringings. More often than not, the biggest success stories often have the biggest obstacles to overcome.
5. Start a Gratitude Journal
There are few things better suited to reframing your thoughts and putting them into perspective than to realize all the things you have to be grateful for. A gratitude journal will take your mind off the negative pessimism that has been weighing you down. Once you learn to appreciate what you have in life, you’ll be free to rise above it all and achieve great things moving forward.
You don’t have to move mountains to find success. But you must somehow climb out of your own negativity. These methods will help you find joy, success, and more in life and in business.
