My new blog…
Well, I’ve decided to join all of the bloggers out there and this is my first blog post!
With my blog, I am hoping to connect with other like-minded authors and publishers who are struggling to research, write, and publish best-selling books as well as market them on various social media and other channels.
I have been writing and publishing books since October 19, 2013 (my birthday!) and, since then, I have published 67 books in a variety of genres. Some of them have been instant best-sellers, some of them struggle to get sales, and most of them fluctuate up and down throughout the course of a year. Basically, I have done a few things right and a LOT of things wrong. 🙂
I belong to a few writer/publisher groups on Facebook and I am an active part of a few mastermind groups of like-minded entrepreneurs. I love my interactions with my fellow writers, publishers, and entrepreneurs. We are always learning from each other and discussing new possibilities, which is why I decided to start this blog. If I am able to help even just a single person with something they are struggling with, I will be thrilled!
I hope to provide interested readers with an “up-close-and-personal” view of what it’s like to be an indie publisher:
- how some things go as planned and some things don’t
- how sometimes I get everything on my list done (well, actually that never happens)
- how I come up with an idea for a new book
- how I plan my new releases
- how I write new books
- how I outsource books
- how I publish books and where
- how I market my books
I also hope that people will learn from my MANY mistakes. I am always trying new things, and hopefully my experiences will help someone else who may be thinking of trying the same thing.
Happy writing!
Barb
Great start! Looking forward to more posts.
hi barb,
just read your post and loved it.
In the future i also would love to publish a book. This book will be a reference book about how to build your dream computer.
There’s a lot of standard information on the internet, but to me, the most specific info you need to build your own pc, is hard to find. And personally i think i can be that person to help others.
i’ve read a lot of info about marketing your book and that marketing usually comes first.
Love to read more on your insights on this.
Chris
Hey Barb,
Looking forward to learning more from you; you taught me so much already!
Best wishes!

You are one of my favorite authors, and your publishing lessons are great, so I am THRILLED to see you putting out regular blog posts. Keep up the good work!

Hi Barb, and thank you. I’m a new eBook Indie with 10 cookbooks, 4 non-fiction “how-to” books, and one mystery/suspense novel on KDP. I need to learn whatever I can about marketing eBooks. That’s why I’m looking forward to learning what you’re done right and what you could have done better.
As I stumble through my learning curve, I’ll be happy to share whatever could be helpful.

I bought the etnire collection of books for my kids, and also for my nephews who live in California. The kids’ ages range from 4-10 yrs. old, and all of them enjoy the books. My kids find the books to be funny and fun to read. My husband and I appreciate the creative way that the books reinforce the Armenian language and culture to our kids. Great initiative by the author to capture in story-form what we as Armenian parents have experienced during our youth. As more and more generations of American-Armenians grow farther away from our foreign-born parents’ customs and rituals, these books allow us to bring the concepts back and share the funny anecdotes with our children so that they can continue to exist in their repetoire of the Armenian culture.
Hi Chris. I think you may have me mixed up with someone else. I don’t have any Armenian books. But, I’m glad you enjoyed them. Culture is very important. Thanks.
